On November 7th, the voters sent a message to George Bush and the Republican Party...Stay the Course is not working, and we want change.  Further, we called for an end to corruption, an end to the gifts and special access of Corporate America.  Cannondale did not get the clue, and there is now a million click You Tube protest that has been started...join in by watching the video, or tossing a link the the blog hosting it.  The goal in this Boycott...get Cannondale to take their bike(s) back from President Bush.

Greetings Sports Fans:

First, apologize for my absense from this blog.  I have spent a great deal of the past month working in my own small way to get John Hall elected to Congress here in New York's 19th District.  I am pleased to announce that those efforts were successful, as he upset 6 term Republican Sue Kelly for the seat in a close fought battle.  I like to think some of my own attack blogs, and video's uploaded onto the You Tube site contributed in some small way.

Being involved in said campaign in some ways, I think, has changed me though only time will tell.  To that end, I have spent this past week creating a new group of blogs over on the Blogger site that I am hoping to use as we gear up for the 2008 Presidential Election cycle.  I'll be letting most, if not all of my blogs here on Bravenet lanquish, though still not fully decided on what to do with this one, as it was/is my favorite.

In an unprecedented abuse of Presidential powers, George Bush has been using the office to force his views, and the Republican Agenda into our homes as he tries to steal yet another election this November. His problem though, is his rhetoric does not match the FACTS on the ground as it were.  Below is his missive of today, my own questions and thoughts on his misstatements in red.

Today, President Bush Delivered A Progress Report On What We Have Done To Fix The Problems Exposed By The 9/11 Attacks.  Nothing quickly pops into mind...we still have MILLIONS of illegal aliens flooding across our UNSECURED Southern Borders, our ports are not secure, and here in New York, the Indian Point Nuclear Power plant is ANYTHING BUT SECURE AND SAFE.

The President looked back at four key stages of the 9/11 plot, the gaps in America's defenses that each stage exposed, and the ways we have addressed those gaps to make our country safer and help prevent another attack.

• America Is Safer Five Years After 9/11 Because We Have Taken Action To Protect The Homeland (Actions to protect the home land...as in spying on Americans, listening in our calls, reading our emails, and snooping through our financial records?  Putting 6,000 National Guard Troops CLOSE TO THE BORDER without weapons, and no ability to ENFORCE OUR LAWS or protect our borders...those kinds of actions?)– Yet America Still Faces Determined Enemies, And We Will Not Be Safe Until Those Enemies Are Fully And Finally Defeated. (For those who are not sure, this determined enemy Bush is talking about is Iraq...the nation he wrongfully invaded, instead of fighting the war on terror, which is why we had a Bin Laden tape released today.) We are now in the midst of a decisive battle, and America must ensure that it ends in victory for the cause of freedom. (Notice that victory for the cause of freedom...that is BUSHY speak for his need to WIN in Iraq.  Curious here, how many of my readers feel we are WINNING THE WAR IN IRAQ?  War on Terror...War IN IRAQ...two different beasts, so lets not allow the President to join the two into one.)

Over The Past Five Years, We Have Waged An Unprecedented Campaign Against Terror At Home And Abroad – And That Campaign Has Succeeded In Stopping Another Attack On Our Homeland. (First, notice that Bush wants to IGNORE the fact that terrorists attacks WORLD WIDE are up, not down...guess his rhetoric about caring about our friends and partners is all for the cameras?  Further, his claim is not truthful...am I the only reader here that remembers the ANTHRAX attacks?  Were those NOT TERRORIST ATTACKS inside our BORDERS?) Thanks to the efforts of our intelligence, law enforcement and military communities, America has not been struck again since the attacks of 9/11. Yet we have seen our enemies strike in Britain, Spain, India, Turkey, Russia, Indonesia, Jordan, Israel, Afghanistan, Iraq, and other countries. Just last month, police and intelligence officers from Britain, America, Pakistan, and other allies foiled a suicide plot to blow up passenger planes on their way to the U.S.(Curious here George Bush...if we are WINNING THE WAR ON TERROR under your REICH, how come all those countries are being attacked, why are the number of attacks WAY UP?  Has it occurred to you, that your having America BOGGED DOWN IN IRAQ, instead of fighting the war on terror is a major contributing factor to these elevated attacks?)

In The First Key Stage Of The 9/11 Plot, Al Qaeda Conceived And Planned The Attacks From Abroad (Yes, they did plan it from afar, and then on August 6th, you TOTALLY IGNORED a serious warning in your Daily BRIEFING...OH WAIT, you don't like to read do you Mr. Bush...maybe that explains how you missed it, explains why you failed to put out a warning to the nations airports?)

After 9/11, The President Set Forth A New Doctrine: Nations That Harbor Or Support Terrorists Are As Guilty As The Terrorists, And Will Be Held To Account. (This sounds really good Mr. Bush, but if you REALLY MEAN THAT, why is Iran about to have the NUCLEAR BOMB, why did we not step in and fight side by side with Israel in their battle against the TERRORIST ORGANIZATION Hezbollah, why have we not taken actions against both Syria and Iran for ARMING and FINANCING this terrorist group?  FACE IT MR. BUSH...you again are LYING TO US.  Your actions to not back up your words, because you are a COWARD.) The first stage of the 9/11 plot exposed serious flaws in the old approach to terrorism – most importantly, that allowing states to give safe haven to terrorist networks is a grave mistake. (Again then...if as you say we cannot allow states to PROVIDE SAFE HAVEN to terrorists, why are the troops in Iraq, instead of knocking on the door of Damascus or Tehran?  If we learned this lesson, seems to me we should have stayed in Afghanistan until the JOB WAS FINISHED, and Bin Laden was DEAD.)

Key Advantages Al Qaeda Enjoyed While Plotting The 9/11 Attack In Afghanistan Have Been Taken Away. (You Mr. BUSH must have the stupidest staff in the world...do they also NOT READ?  In today's paper, it was announced that the War Lords in Afghanistan are as powerful as ever after a BUMPER OPIUM crop this year, and their forces are giving the United Nations troops fits...35 Canadian and Brittish troops dead this week. That does not sound as if you have TAKEN ANYTHING AWAY, other than on a very brief temporary basis.) With Afghan allies, America removed the Taliban from power and closed the al Qaeda training camps. In addition to military efforts, we are using financial tools, diplomatic pressure, and intelligence operations to disrupt the day-to-day functions of al Qaeda. As a result, al Qaeda can no longer move widely without fearing for their lives, transfer money easily through the international banking system, or communicate openly without risking detection. (Terrorists attacks ARE UP all over the world Mr. Bush, and Hezbollah just fought Israel to a stand still while launching THOUSANDS OF MISSILES into Israeli land.  Recruits are UP for Al Quida, their insurgents are fighting us to a DRAW IN IRAG, yet you want us to believe your strategies are working, that you have stemmed their cash flow, and halted their movements?)

• Many Of Al Qaeda's Most Important Leaders Have Been Captured Or Killed, Including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Believed To Be The Mastermind Behind The 9/11 Attacks. For the past three years, KSM has been in the custody of the CIA. He has provided valuable intelligence that has helped us kill or capture al Qaeda terrorists and stop attacks on our Nation. Our officials report that he is now of little or no intelligence value. So he has been transferred to Guantanamo Bay – and the sooner Congress authorizes military commissions, the sooner he will receive the justice he deserves. (So, you and the CIA tortured the man in a BLACK PRISON that you denied existed, then you trot out and claim how much intelligence you got out of him, claiming to have stop NUMEROUS ATTACKS IN AMERICA, though you provide us NO PROOF, then tell us he is being SHIPPED INTO A PRISON that should be CLOSED DOWN!   Oh yeah, that makes me feel MUCH BETTER....NOT!0

In The Second Key Stage Of The 9/11 Plot, KSM And Bin Laden Identified, Trained, And Deployed Operatives To The United States (Well, you at least got this sentence correct.)

Since 9/11, We Have Addressed The Gaps In America's Defenses That Were Exploited By Al Qaeda To Carry Out The 9/11 Attacks. (Have you Mr. Bush?  I take it you do not watch Lou Dobbs?  On his show tonight, he had a report that thousands of potentially dangerous individuals have entered America in the past year with FALSE PASSPORTS, and without a visa.  Further, he again mentioned OUR UNSECURED BORDER WITH MEXICO, and the MILLIONS of criminals still streaming in.  Tell me then how you have addressed these issues?)We have upgraded technology and added new layers of screening and security to the immigration and visa system. (HELLO....if a terrorist wants, there are TWENTY SEVEN different countries they can go to that then let them enter America WITH NO VISA...again MR. Bush that was on tonights evening news programs if you cared to watch. )Today, visa applicants like those who participated in the 9/11 hijackings would have to appear for face-to-face interviews, be fingerprinted and screened against an extensive database of known or suspected terrorists, and be checked again upon arrival to make sure their fingerprints match the fingerprints on their visas. (Again, not if they choose to enter through one of the twenty seven nations mentioned above, or if they choose to simply WALK ACROSS our Southern border, or pay a COYOTE $3,000 to bring them in.)

Terrorist Watchlists Have Been Improved. We have established common criteria for posting terrorists on a consolidated terrorist watchlist that is widely available across Federal, State, and local government. Information from this list would be accessible at airports, consulates, border crossings, and to State and local law enforcement. Your own people snuck through both the Northern and Southern borders with FAKE ID's, so your watch list is RUBBISH.

At The President's Direction, The NSA Created The Terrorist Surveillance Program (TSP). (You mean the same NSA spying case that the courts have stated are UNCONSTITUTIONAL?  That program Mr. Bush?  The one you keep insisting is legal, even though you have LOST EVERY COURT CASE CHALLENGE on your contentions...in fact, the court overseeing wiretaps have stated they believe the program is ILLEGAL.) Before 9/11, U.S. intelligence professionals found it difficult to monitor international communications, such as those between the planners of the 9/11 attack abroad and the al Qaeda operatives secretly in the United States. (Hello, you have THREE FULL DAYS after you start a wire tap to get a SEARCH WARRANT...stop with the DAMN LIES you MAGGOT.)The TSP helps protect Americans by allowing us to track terrorist communications like these, so we can learn about threats like the 9/11 plot before it is too late.

Once Again, The President Called On Congress To Promptly Pass Legislation Providing Additional Authority For The Terrorist Surveillance Program. (IF as you say, the program is LEGAL, why do you need NEW LAWS passed?  You should be impeached.) A legal challenge to the TSP was recently upheld by a Federal district court judge in Michigan. The Administration strongly disagrees with this ruling, is appealing it, and believes its appeal will be successful. (Hello...YOU LOST, get over it, and start OBEYING THE LAWS of the United States....OH, I forgot, you only enforce laws that suit you...the 20 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS HERE PROVE THAT ONE.)  A series of protracted legal challenges would put a heavy burden on this crucial program and could present unacceptable delays. (Delays in what, your raping and pillaging of our constitutional RIGHTS?  You are despicable.)

• The President Has Also Called On Congress To Pass Broader Reforms In The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). When FISA was passed in 1978, there was no Internet and almost all calls were made on fixed landlines. Now, people can buy disposable cell phones and open anonymous e-mail accounts. Our laws must be strengthened to take changes like these into account. (WAKE UP AMERICA...Bush wants George Orwell's 1984 with BIG BROTHER WATCHING YOUR EVERY MOVE, READING ALL YOUR EMAIL, SNOOPING INTO YOUR MOST PRIVATE THOUGHTS.)

In The Third Key Stage Of The 9/11 Plot, The Rest Of The 19 Al Qaeda Operatives Arrived In The United States (As someone living in New York, let me tell you Mr. Bush....you had a CHANCE to stop 9/11 and BLEW IT...stand up and be a man, admit you screwed up, admit that you should have taken action on that briefing paper.)

In Response To 9/11, The FBI Has Made Protecting America From Terrorist Attack Its Top Priority. The FBI has hired more counter terrorism agents and analysts; created a unified National Security Branch to coordinate terrorism investigations and intelligence operations; and expanded the number of Joint Terrorism Task Forces to help Federal, State, and local law enforcement officers work together. Curious here Mr. Bush...if you are SO CONCERNED with National Security, why did you boot out of the military numerous well trained ARABIC SPEAKING AND READING soldiers because they were GAY?  Are you so HOMOPHOBIC that you put your church doctrines ahead of NATIONAL SECURITY?

In Addition, We Worked With Congress To Tear Down The Legal And Bureaucratic Wall That Kept Law Enforcement And Intelligence From Sharing Information. All levels of government are sharing far more information than ever before and connecting the dots to stop terrorists before they strike. With Congress, we have:

• Passed The Patriot Act. This good law has increased the flow of information and helped break up terrorist cells in the United States, and Congress was right to renew it.  The Patriot ACT steals away Americans Rights, while doing LITTLE to actually stop terrorists.  It's like locking doors...that only stops HONEST PEOPLE, not thieves.

• Created The National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC). At the NCTC, law enforcement and intelligence personnel work side-by-side in the same headquarters. What you have done, is created a huge TURF WAR, and the Department of Homeland Defense is the laughing stock of the world.

• Created The Position Of Director Of National Intelligence (DNI). The DNI operates the intelligence community as a single unified enterprise. Sure, that made a lot of sense...in the middle of a NATIONAL CRISIS, let's dismantle everything, and recreated SOMETHING NEW that will take 20 years to get up and working properly.

• Set Up The Terrorist Screening Center (TSC). The TSC maintains the Government's consolidated list of suspected terrorists and individuals with terrorist links and helps get this information into the hands of State and local law enforcement. Give me two days and a laptop computer with wireless, and pay my Star Bucks bill and I can have a list myself...BIG DEAL....curious, my lost  might cost about $50 dollars worth of Star Bucks, and if I charged you for a new laptop, total cost would be less than $4,000, so what did it cost us tax payers FOR YOUR LIST?  As for sharing said list...how hard is it to send out and EMAIL?

The Fourth And Final Stage Of The 9/11 Plot Came On The Morning Of The Attack

(The Morning when you kept READING TO SCHOOL CHILDREN, rather than take decisive action?  That MORNING Mr. Bush?  By the way, what was your father doing that morning meeting with members of the Bin Laden family in a POSH Washington, DC hotel?  Furthermore, why did you let the Bin Laden family fly out of America the next day before the FBI and the CIA had ample chance to question them?)

We Have Taken Many Steps To Address The Security Gaps That The Hijackers Exploited That Morning. We have created the Transportation Security Administration to ensure that every passenger and every bag is screened; increased the number of Federal air marshals on domestic and international flights; trained and authorized thousands of pilots to carry firearms; and hardened cockpit doors to prevent terrorists from gaining access to the controls. How about doing something that lets America live normally, allows us to do simple things like carry a bottle of shampoo or perfume onto the plan with us?  Take some of that money you are wasting in Iraq, and give us SOME TRUE SECURITY.

• In Addition, We Merged 22 Government Agencies Into A Single Department Of Homeland Security, And Tripled Spending For Security At Airlines, Ports, Borders, And Other Critical Areas. I live within ten miles of the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant...it is NOT SAFE.  Curious Mr. Bush...have you ever tried to call and speak with someone at Homeland Security?  FORGET IT, if a citizen really has crucial information, it'll be too late by the time they get to speak to a HUMAN BEING at that NEW AGENCY.

We Are Working To Stay Several Steps Ahead Of The Terrorists, America Has Gone On The Offense Across The World, And Our Country Is Safer

On 9/11, We Saw That The Terrorists Have To Be Right Only Once To Kill Our People – While We Have To Be Right Every Time To Stop Them. To protect the American people, we need to do everything in our power to stop the next attack. (Give it up Mr. Bush, you have BEAT THAT LINE TO DEATH, milked every last drop of political life you are going to get out of it.  By the way, how long was it between the first and second attack of the World Trade Center?  In short, stop touting your record of keeping us safe for five years, as I am NOT IMPRESSED.)

• We Have Captured Or Killed Many Of The Most Significant Al Qaeda Members And Associates. We have captured Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and killed al Qaeda's most visible and aggressive leader to emerge after 9/11 – the terrorist Zarqawi in Iraq. By who's standards...you capture or kill a supposed KEY PLAYER, and another one steps up in his place...their key players are not like our generals, they are far more interchangeable.  Today's foot soldier in Al Quida can be tomorrow's new NUMBER TWO, so just how effective have you really been?   

• We Have Kept The Terrorists From Achieving Their Key Goal – To Overthrow Governments Across The Broader Middle East And Seize Control. Terrorists are being denied safe haven and instead have seen the governments they targeted – such as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia – become some of our most valuable allies in the War on Terror. Funny, but just two weeks ago the political PUNDITS were all over the air telling us Americans that Hezbollah was potentially THE BIG WINNER in the war with Israel, and that there was a very real chance they could be in FULL CONTROL of the Lebanese government after the next election.  Also, am I mistaken here, or earlier this year didn't I witness HAMAS gaining control of the government of the Palestinian people?  So, your programs now have TWO COUNTRIES being led by TERRORIST organizations, but you want to tell us you have SUCCEEDED?  You are a strange duck indeed Mr. Bush.

• Our Allies In The War On Terror Include Two Nations That Used To Harbor Or Sponsor Terror But Now Help Us Fight It – The Democratic Nations Of Afghanistan And Iraq. In Afghanistan, President Karzai's elected government has replaced the Taliban and is fighting our common enemies and inspiring millions across the region. In Iraq, Prime Minister Maliki's unity government is fighting al Qaeda and the enemies of Iraq's democracy, and taking increasing responsibility for the security of their free country. Again, do you WATCH THE NEWS...Afghanistan is falling backwards, the Taliban getting a serious foot hold in the South, and the leader of Iraq's new government just yesterday said the government had maybe four months to FIX THINGS, before there would be a COMPLETE MELTDOWN of the nation.

As We Fight The Enemies Of A Free Iraq, We Must Also Ensure That Al Qaeda And Its Allies Never Get Their Hands On The Tools Of Mass Murder. We launched the Proliferation Security Initiative, a coalition of more than 70 countries that are cooperating to stop shipments related to deadly weapons. We worked with Great Britain to persuade Libya to give up its nuclear weapons program and put the black market nuclear network of A.Q. Khan, who was shipping equipment to Iran and North Korea, out of business. Stop the SMOKE AND MIRRORS Mr. Bush, and tell us what you are going to do about both Iran and North Korea.

As regular readers of my blog know, I ADORE fine automobiles, even if from afar.  Needing a break from my efforts to support the Miller Brewing Company BOYCOTT I decided to check in on my own FAVORITE electric car Company, Tesla Motors and all I can say is WOW.

Their goal had been to take orders for 100 Signature Series Roadsters, and they have ACCOMPLISHED that goal and then some as they are now taking reservations for their next 100 Roadsters!  Any one out there interested in buying this opinionated old hippie one of these DREAM MACHINES? (Never hurts to ask.)
